Hacked!!!

Bwahahaha......I have hacked the boyfriend's blogger account and am posting nonsense in his blog to see if he even notices that I did it.....

hmmm, what to post what to post...

I know, a purty picture that he took today!

A fitting image for the first official day of fall. Beautiful maple leaf in creek bed, taken on September 22nd 2009, at Racehorse Creek, WA.

any bets on how long before he notices this post? I'm guessing at least a week...

computer: part 2

well the last of the components are here and installed. due to some issues between the hard drive and the operating system (Microsoft XP) i need to make a specific driver (which came on the disk that came with the motherboard) to be able to install XP on my hard drive. this would be an easy fix if: a) i had purchased a floppy drive along with the other components (but i didn't because this senario is likey the ONLY time i'll need a floppy drive.) and b) Jess's computer had a DVD drive (which she doesn't, her's is only a CD drive. and the disk that came with the motherboard happens to be a DVD)

so... what i have to do is: install my new DVD drive in Jess's computer so i can run the DVD with the driver on it to make the driver on a floppy disk. then, put jess's CD drive back and mine back, then steal Jess's floppy drive and temporarily put it in my computer so that whn i install XP i can feed it the driver and make things run smoothly. simple, right? (i hope so)

we'll find out tomorrow after i run out and get a floppy disk...

Building a computer

so i've decided to build my own computer...

i'm already a ways down the road and am as of right now just waiting for next weeks paycheck to finish ordering everything. i've been getting everything off of NewEgg.com and have thus far been very pleased with my purchases. but lets start at the beginning.

i first off, needed to know what the heck to get. a computer is made up of suprisingly few parts, and once you have those parts its a relatively simple matter of plugging everything in to the right places and hoping it doesn't blow up. with the help of friends online, reviews of items purchase off newegg by other people, and many many many online "build your own computer guides" i came up with a shopping list:

Case

Motherboard

Processor

Video Card

Power Supply

Memory

Hard Drive

Disk Drive

Operating System

Monitor

Keyboard

Speakers

So far i have received the case, monitor, keyboard, operating system, hard drive, and disk drive. the motherboard, processor adn power supply should be here next wednesday, and the final pieces (memory, video card, and speakers) will be ordered next friday.

as soon as teh last pieces show up (likely the following wednesday) i'll be able to start assembly, which also sounds pretty easy as long as you're careful. right now i've had the new monitor adn keyboard plugged into my laptop so i can oogle the monitors awesome hugeness, adn get used to typing on a non-laptop keyboard (which i WAY harder than you might think. been using spell check a lot :P )

will hopefully write another update as things come adn especially once i start assembly, maybe even get some 'work in progress' pics up!
